(この寄付に関する英語での説明です)
This fundraiser is being managed by four committed Japanese residents Tomoko Okazaki, Ayako Iguchi, Tomoko Nonaka, and Kana Saita.
Funds will be transferred to one bank account at the Wailuku Federal Credit Union that we are jointly managing after our experience leading relief efforts 12 years ago for Japanese Tsunami victims. No funds raised are being used to cover our own expenses incurred to deliver aid.
We will be responsible for distributing funds to victims, prioritizing members of the Japanese community in Maui. We're coordinating with many Japanese residents all over Maui to identify those victims who have the greatest need. We work with and help the Japanese Consulate to collect contact information of Japanese individuals who lost their homes in the fires and how to find them while they are unhoused. We are beginning to compile a list of residents in Kula who we will give support to as well.
After providing immediate relief, we will manage the distribution of funds for ongoing needs of young people, including school supplies, therapy to help heal heavy trauma, and other healing events.
Finally, funds will go to the 3 Buddhist Temples in Lahaina for their own rebuilding after burning down.
The Japanese Consulate had contacted us asking the information and whereabouts of registered Japanese residents and we are able to give them our list. Lahaina Temples are all burnt down and the pastors and the family are still in shock, so we are trying to help them get situated and cover their needs.
Those temples have no capacity or way of helping other victims since they were gravely affected themselves.
But the Maui community is very strong and we already have a tight network that we formed 12 years ago so about 20-30 people are all working together doing whatever one can do to help support the victims.
Thank you,
Tomoko Okazaki
